How can I pay?
You can transfer the money to our bank account. Our bank information will be sent together with the confirmation of your application. Keep in mind that your bank might charge a fee for transferring money to a foreign account.
Where to book my flight?
You can book your flight through a travel agent or with the airline company directly. There are many European airlines that fly to Buenos Aires, such as: Airfrance, Alitalia, British Airways and Lufthansa. From the United States it is possible to get a fly with Aerolineas, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, TAM and United Airlines.
Is it possible to work at more than one volunteer project?
Yes, some projects are part time and easy to combine.
Why do I pay for volunteer work?
You pay for accommodation. One part covers Ecole Buenos Aires administrative expenses, which include volunteer coordination, promotion and fixed expenses and 50 USD go to the project itself.
What is included in a project in Buenos Aires?
A social project in Buenos Aires includes accommodation and language lessons. During your stay you can check your mail at the office and we can help you with any travel itineraries or questions regarding your projects or life in Buenos Aires.
What should I bring?
Clothing
Please note it gets pretty cold in Buenos Aires during the winter (June, July, August). Temperatures drop till about 5 to 10 degrees Celsius and at night it is even colder. In summer (December, January and February), on the other hand, temperatures can go up as high as 40 degrees Celsius and it is very humid. It also rains regularly in autumn so an umbrella and/or raincoat can be necessary.
Plugs
The electrical current is 220V. There are many different sockets so your plug might not always fit. It is possible to buy extension plugs in one of the hardware stores in Buenos Aires.
Mobile phone
It depends on your mobile phone if you can use it in Buenos Aires , but a tri-band should work. There are many stores where you can go for more information and to buy a phone or pre-paid cards. Keep in mind that some regions outside Buenos Aires do not have reception.
Is it easy to call home?
Buenos Aires has many internet cafes which are called locutorios. You can also make (international) phone calls here. It is cheaper to buy phone cards for international calls.
How long in advance should I enroll?
You can enroll until a week before your arrival, but we recommend you to enroll one or two months before.
Will there be someone at the airport to pick me up?
Yes, it is included in the program cost. One staff member will pick you up together with our taxidriver.
Do I need a visa?
No, you do not need a visa for Argentina. On your arrival, the stamp in your passport entitles you to stay in for up to 90 days. You can extend your visit for an additional 90 days or make a trip to Uruguay for a day or weekend and get a new entry stamp.
Do I need any vaccinations for Argentina?
Some vaccinations are recommended. Please consult the Health Department in your home country for updated information.
How do I get cash in Argentina?
The easiest way to obtain cash is by using your ATM card. In case you have problems with your card, it may be useful to bring some euros or dollars with you.
Argentina safe?
Argentina is a tourist friendly country to travel in. Nevertheless, you should always stay alert and mind your hand luggage, especially in busy places like bus stations, markets, busses, subways etc. Be alert when it comes to fake money, it would be a good idea not to use bills of 50 and 100 pesos on taxis and small stores.
What about transportation?
Public transport is a cheap and reliable way of traveling in Buenos Aires. Besides, you can get almost anywhere in Argentina by bus.
Can I leave my luggage at the school?
Yes. We have a storage room which you can use during your stay. |
